Japanese Fireman's Coats exhibition at the UMKC Gallery of Art. This exhibition of 40 19th- and early 20-century Japanese fireman’s coats explored this garment’s rich traditions and designs. Japanese firemen (hikeshi) wore this attire in winter for warmth in addition to soaking them in water prior to fighting a fire. Curated by Craig Allen Subler.
